Alchemy – All kinds of goodness on Grafton St

Happy New Year everyone! I hope it will be a great one for everyone.

Now that January is here and many people are focusing on new leaves, on being fit and on moving on from all that amazing Christmas food, I thought it would be a good time to write about Alchemy.

Alchemy Juice Co. is located upstairs in BT2 on Grafton Street. And it’s great.

Known for its super healthy juices, it offers a wonderfully healthy spread that makes you feel so proud for just being there.

I have only been twice, but both times I was impressed by the delicious food.

My sister and I went just before the new year, and left feeling pretty good.

I couldn’t resist the Superfood Salad. I chose it on my first visit because it was so colourful and packed with superfoods. It was so satisfying and so delicious that I couldn’t pass it up the next time.

We got two juices, the first was green and oh so healthy, and the second was the Anti-Everything, it was orange and tasted like some sort of orange ice pop that I can’t put my finger on. Delicious.

We were starving, so we got cabbage rolls too.

I love the way Alchemy is nice and white and clean, but the best part is the view of Grafton Street. If you sit by the window, you get to people watch while you munch some healthy goodness.

The salad we chose contains spinach, blueberries, toasted chickpeas, roast sweet potato, honeyed walnuts, sprouts and goji-berries. There is a lot of sweetness but it’s offset by the lemon sauce and greens.

Each bite contains different flavours and it is just really satisfying.

We tucked into the burrito-like cabbage rolls and were pleasantly surprised. The soy, miso and sesame seeds made for a very Asian taste experience. The quinoa added bulk to create a very healthy version of a spring roll. They also contain carrot, mouli, sea vegetables and tamari.

The salads and one cabbage roll each was filling and satisfying.

Alchemy isn’t cheap, so next time I would go for one or the other. The salads come to €8.50 each and the cabbage rolls were €7.50 for two.

Add a juice for €4.50-75 and you have a pricey lunch.

On my first visit to Alchemy, I ordered a coffee and a spirulina protein ball with my salad. This was really satisfying too, and it was nice to have a little dessert type thing after my salad.

While Alchemy isn’t somewhere I’d be going every week, it’s definitely somewhere I  look forward to returning to. Next time I’ll be trying the bone broth and some other baked goods.

If you want to feel smugly healthy and satisfied, then Alchemy is the place to be.
